How to Be a Cowgirl in Alberta

Cowboy culture has long been a part of Alberta's history--Calgary is home to the Calgary Stampede after all. Ranching is a dominant part of Alberta's culture as well so on my road trip, we had to make a stop at an outstanding working ranch, Sierra West. We stayed at this charming, historical styled ranch and got the chance to take horses out, learn about their maintenance and even participate in a barn supper with all the ranchhands. Luckily my first stop was at Lammle's in Calgary, where I got outfitted hat to boot in the finest cowgirl wear. Hey, I had to look the part if I was going to be a cowgirl for a week, am I right?
