This is my second time shooting a revolvers only match, but first time ever shooting a revolver championship!
Weather was amazing, and I got to shoot with a diverse group of revolver shooters. I learned a lot about revolvers in depth with the collective experiences of everyone who were very helpful, as well as some tips and tricks that I’ll be practicing on.
Personally, the rules of this particular practical shooting is that they value accuracy a little more than time. I was running and gunning like I would in USPSA, and it was “OK” to drop some Charlies, but in this sport, those Bravo/Charlies add up…and it hurt. I had a fellow local shooter who I chatted briefly, and they said they had to force themselves to slow down, while I was kind of stuck going fast.

0:21 Stage 1: “Don’t Splash The Rim”
This was a group effort shoot, if we all did well we all get points but if we didn’t we all took it as well. Out of 12 required shots, we only had 2 Misses.
2:36 Stage 2: “Shake And Bake”
This was a draw and shoot fast stage.
3:26 Stage 3: “I Wanna Go Fast”
This was a draw and shoot a plate rack fast stage.
4:09 Stage 4: “Star Wars*” *Stage was removed by MD because of issue with previously shot multi-day scores not being found :(
This was a 22s PAR Time stage. In reality, I should have performed a reload and continue to engage some of the static plates as they were No-Penalty Misses to gain more points. Also, the no-look reload didn’t help rofl.
4:54 Stage 5: “I Lost My Way”
This was my best stage of the entire match, as I was number 10 in Limited on this stage. The anxiety to perform was real, as my wife was here watching me on this stage :)
5:42 Stage 6: “Cross The Bridge Twice”
First time ever shooting on a unstable platform. Another shooter recommended shooting on the move…I was like nope.
6:24 Stage 7: “Not So Far and Near”
As a USPSA and former IDPA shooter, black is always hardcover. I had to ask if hitting the black was a procedural or detrimental. Turns out, you want to hit the black here to get negative points!
7:20 Stage 8: “Why When Where and How”
I don’t shoot the Polish Plate Rack enough.
8:25 Stage 9: “Press Your Luck No Whammies”
There’s a saying, if you are the only one doing it, you are probably doing it wrong. Everyone ahead of me started the stage hitting it with their strong hand and then drew. It didn’t dawn on me it was in the Written Stage Briefing that it had to be this way. There was also a mandatory reload engaging a new color popper.
9:10 Stage 10: “Little Ghost Town”
On the first swinging target, some folks chose to wait and then send. I chose to get close to the next start position and then engage it. It paid off, as I got 2-Alpha on the first swinging target before I entered the next array. In between the second swinger, I had a Cylinder Skip which I instinctively initiated a reload.
9:56 Stage 11: “Home Run”
The far pepper popper could be done in the position closest to it, but if you took at back at the start position you would get a bonus (-10). This stage made sense to me to run it counterclockwise, but some chose to run it clockwise.
11:02 Stage 12: “Room Without a View”
I wanted to eliminate a standing reload if at all possible, and at the time it made sense in my head to do what I did.
