The Deacons of the Deep are a congregation of clerics who have been corrupted by the influence of Aldrich, Saint of the Deep. They are a mass of cloaked figures, each wielding a candle and bearing the burden of the Deep's dark power.
The fight with the Deacons of the Deep is distinct from other boss encounters in Dark Souls III. The battle takes place in a large, circular arena, and the objective is to defeat a specific target, the Archdeacon. However, the Archdeacon is hidden within the crowd of deacons, making it challenging to locate and target him.
The deacons themselves are not individually formidable, but their combined efforts and the support they provide to the Archdeacon pose a significant threat. They will cast spells, channel dark energy, and attempt to hinder the player's progress by blocking their path.
To succeed against the Deacons of the Deep, you must strategically navigate the crowd, locate the Archdeacon, and deal damage to him while avoiding the attacks of the other deacons. Utilizing area-of-effect attacks or weapons that can hit multiple targets can be particularly effective in this encounter.
