Booting every Windows 98/Memphis leaked beta builds on real hardware - 49 Hard Drive seeking sounds!

Описание к видео Booting every Windows 98/Memphis leaked beta builds on real hardware - 49 Hard Drive seeking sounds!

Starting up and taking a quick look at all the pre-RTM beta builds of Windows 98 (Codename Memphis) on real hardware using a different hard drive for each build. Those are drives from the mid 90s to very early 2000s with capacities ranging from arround 200MB to 10GB. (These are all the builds availlable on betaarchive and listed on betawiki in Febuary 2023)

The hardware used is a Intel Pentium 3 at 500MHz, 768 MB of RAM, a ATI Radeon 7000 Series GPU and a AzTech ISA sound card (Windows detects it as a Washington 16, but it actually is a OEM card that came from a packard bell).
This hardware (excluding the sound card) is a little bit too new but I was afraid if I used my Pentium I the video would end up being way longer because of it being obviously slower.
ACPI was turned off in the BIOS as it broke a lot of the earlier builds if turned on.

Yep, doing this with a better recording quality compared to the 95/Chicago one was one of the reason for getting the capture setup.
I'm still not sure if doing this is a good idea or not due to how long it takes.
If you are interested in windows history and/or like the sound of old hard drives then you will probably like it.

If you liked this and have not seen it yet, you may also like the Windows 95/Chicago one I made previously, here's a link :    • Booting up every leaked Windows 95/Ch...
