In this episode, we travel back in time to July 1990, and visit Schloss Wolkenstein, in Erzgebirge. My Uncle was involved in the "upkeep" of castle during DDR times, they actually lived in an apartment which was created inside the castle. By this time, it looks like renovation efforts have started, however the property is in a very bad shape. He lived the rest of his life in a little house next to the castle, I recall when I visited him in the early 2000s before his death, he spoke with great pride that he helped keep the building standing, and to begin restoration efforts after reunification.
