The Galaxy S7 brings back two important features missing from the S6: a microSD card slot and IP68 water resistance. At first glance it looks much like the Galaxy S6, but it has curved sides on the back for a surer and comfier grip. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow smartphone has Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, the top of the line Snapdragon 820 CPU (US model, other countries may get the Exynos CPU), 4 gigs of RAM and 32 gigs of storage plus a microSD card slot compatible with cards up to 200 gigs.

The phone has a lovely 5.1" 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED display, LTE 4G, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and a GPS. It has a front 5MP camera and a new 12MP rear camera with fast auto-focus, very good low light capabilities, 4K video recording and OIS. The Galaxy has a 3,000 mAh battery that’s sealed inside. In the US it sells for $700 full retail. For those who prefer a bigger screen phone and/or a display with curved sides, there’s the 5.5” Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge for $800 that we’ll review separately.
