Today's video was taken on august 25, 2024 walking at La Chapelle in Paris 18e, celebrating Ganesh festival 2024.
Ganesh Chaturthi (Feast of Ganesh) is an Indian festival in which Lord Ganesh, son of Shiva and Pârvati, is worshipped.
It is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi in Sanskrit, Kannara, Tamil or Telugu.
This important holiday is celebrated in Indian communities around the world and is recognized, particularly in France in the Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
During this religious parade, coconuts are broken: the shell represents the illusion of world, flesh individual karma and coconut water the ego. This water is poured out at the passage of Ganesha's representation. Symbolically, breaking his coconuts shows the offering of his heart to Ganesh in exchange for his protection.
