In Part 5 of our Great Aussie Roadtrip, we head west from Geelong, crossing the Victorian border into South Australia. It’s a long 750km drive through dry countryside, wind farms, sheep paddocks and grain mills — a big contrast from the lush green coastlines we’ve seen so far.

We arrive in Adelaide just after dark to stay with some close friends, and the next day we join them for a traditional Malayali breakfast before getting ready to attend a beautiful wedding in McLaren Vale at Simon Hackett Winery. With rolling vineyards, glowing sunset light, and a busload of friends — it was a night to remember.
