The Porsche 911 997 Carrera GTS is a bit of a mouthful, but it was an instant classic when new in 2010 and values have never dipped below list price since. There are many variations available of this run-out special: Coupe, Cabriolet, RWD, AWD, manual or PDK.

The RWD Coupes are the most sought after, though most tend to come with optional PDK transmission. Find a manual example though and you have a rare beast indeed – so how does the gearbox change the overall 997 GTS experience? Lee finds out with a back-to-back drive of both cars.
