Grapevine viruses and phytoplasmas: a biosecurity challenge for viticulture

Описание к видео Grapevine viruses and phytoplasmas: a biosecurity challenge for viticulture

Virus and virus-like diseases can reduce production, quality and yield of grapevine budwood and fruit, and sometimes cause vine mortality. Our knowledge of the virus species and strains that can infect grapevines has expanded with advances in molecular sequencing technology. There are now more than 86 viruses that are known to infect grapevines worldwide and more than 10 occur in Australia. An overview of grapevine viruses and their importance to Australian viticulture will be presented, including impacts that viruses have on production and management decisions. A brief overview of current Australian research activities will also be presented.
