The press conference was held on Thursday at the Oriental Hotel in Manama, the capital of the country.

The press conference was organized in the wake of allegations leveled by the outgoing Bahrain BNP acting president Saber Ahmed and general secretary Sirajul Islam Chunnu against BNP senior co-president of Bahrain Akbar Hossain aired on NTV on December 27.

It was informed at the press conference that Akbar Hossain, the senior co-president of the party, was acquitted on December 23 with the joint signature of the acting president and the general secretary for breaking the party discipline. According to the news broadcast on NTV, he was released on the basis of the views of the party's executive committee, policy-making forum, advisory council and leaders of all organs, associates and all regional branch committees. The press conference claimed that this was not true at all.

The senior leaders of the executive committee, three of the four members of the advisory council, seven of the 11 members of the policy-making forum and the presidents and editors of all the regional branches were present at the press conference to prove that the news was false.

They told the press conference that they did not know anything about this. At the time, they alleged that such incidents had taken place with the connivance of Saber Ahmed, Sirajul Islam Chunnu and Chief Adviser Faisal Mahmud Chowdhury. They sought the intervention of acting chairman Tareq Rahman to take party action against them.
