A truck allegedly rammed into the car carrying the victim and her family, killing her relatives
Witnesses were attacked
Evidence surfaced slowly, under massive public pressure
Only after nationwide outrage, media scrutiny, and public protests did the case move forward seriously.
📌 The investigation was later handed over to the CBI, trials were shifted out of Uttar Pradesh for safety reasons, and finally:
The accused was convicted and sentenced
Justice seemed slow, but it did arrive — at least on paper
Now, years later, fresh controversy has erupted with court orders related to bail / sentence suspension, raising new questions:
Does power still influence justice?
What message does this send to survivors of sexual violence?
Can justice truly be called justice if it comes after years of suffering?
