Описание к видео Saxophone Reeds: Is Bigger Better? | Sax Lessons for Adult Learners | Dave Good Sax

What size reed is best for saxophone students? And, when is a good time to change your reed? These are questions I hear frequently from my studio. The right reed setup is a crucial part of your mouthpiece/ligature combination. It is the only moving part at the front end of the horn and as such forms the raw sonic material that ultimately becomes your best saxophone sound, whether your instrument is a soprano sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, alto sax, or all of them. And with so many natural cane and synthetic brand names to choose from, it's hard to know where to start. In today's video, I will talk about reed hardness, dabble a bit in reed mythology, explain some best practices, and I'll give a little play-demonstration of what happens as you climb up the reed strength tree. Spoiler alert: there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to saxophone reeds. I hope today's session will help you and anyone you may share this video with. And please, remember to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE.
