John Marquis opened the scoring for the Blues after just five minutes at Keepmoat Stadium, heading home after static defending from the Blues.

Pompey were starting to pile on some pressure, however, and they deservedly found themselves back on level terms just before the break.

Former Rovers winger Kyle Bennett – who was roundly booed by the home support throughout – intercepted the ball and threaded a neat pass to Kal Naismith, who coolly slid the ball past Marko Marosi.

Substitute Tommy Rowe forged ahead for the hosts with a powerful strike on 58 minutes, which rocketed past David Forde.

And the points were sealed midway through the second half, as former Pompey man Marquis grabbed another, after Rowe's cross was deflected into his path and he smashed it in left footed.
