Van Gogh Crayon Resist Painting

Supplies
Crayons
(Brown, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Green)
Watercolor Paper
Paintbrush (Large Flat)
Watercolor Paint
Water in a container
Masking Tape (optional)
Paper towel or rag

Steps
1. Tape the Border (optional)
2. Draw the vase and flowers with a brown crayon
3. Add yellow crayon to the flowers and to the vase and table
4. Add orange to the sunflowers
5. Add blue crayon to the background making a pattern if you would like
6. Add green to the stems
7. Make a big puddle of blue paint in the tray of your watercolor set or on a plate
8. Paint the entire image with blue paint
9. Dab it off of the waxy areas if you want
10. After it is dry, remove the taped border

Adaptions
Draw only a few sunflowers and keep the shapes simple, circles. Draw the sunflowers with
yellow

Extensions
Make a drawing of another work of art you like with crayon and paint over it with watercolor
Write a letter to a friend with a white crayon and have them paint over it to discover what you
wrote
