In 1943, while a peat bog was being mined in Sweden, a skull was found. Workers invited archaeologists, who extracted the skeleton together with the surrounding peat and sent it to the laboratory. During the examination, scientists found many raspberry seeds in the area of the stomach. Apparently these were part of her last meal, hence her name "Raspberry Girl."

At the time of her death she was about 25 years old. She was only 145 centimeters tall, very short even for that era. During the excavations, scientists noticed that the girl's foot bones were placed on top of her thigh bones, her shins were strongly bent. The skull was placed face down, the skeleton was lying on the stomach with the head to the north. On this basis, it was suggested that her feet were tied to the back of her thighs. No rope or clothing remnants were found, most likely completely decomposed.

The assumption is that she was tied up and thrown into the swamp. Whether this was an execution or a sacrifice is unknown.
