Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Type 1 diabetes usually appears during childhood or adolescence, it can develop in adults. It is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone needed to allow sugar to enter cells to produce energy. Reversing diabetes is a term that usually refers to a significant long-term improvement in insulin sensitivity in people with type 2 diabetes.
