FIRST SNOW in the DOLOMITES

Hey! Sorry for the absence in the last weeks. I didn't manage to get out in nature by myself and film new videos.. So I had to take a break from posting on Youtube.

Even though it's only October, snow came early this year: in fact, Dolomites were already covered with a thick layer of snow that massively changed the look of the landscape.

This situation will not last very long as days are warm and it's already melfing very fast, but it was nice to have a preview of what's coming in the next month!

My initial plan was to go winter camping on a top called Punta Lastoi de Formin. The route follows the beautiful Val Formin till the saddle at the end, Forcella Rossa, and then turns right towards the top.
While I was going up, I met some guys who told me that it's impossible to go up without snowshoes because of the snow, and that they only reached the saddle so there was no trace for the top.

As you can see from the video, the guys were right. Absolutely impossible to go up with snowshoes, and also very dangerous because I could easily fall in the holes between the rocks (under the snow) and break a leg or get seriously injured.
So I decided to stop, shoot sunset from my drone, and go down.

In the morning I met with Andrea, a local friend, to hike to Mondeval Plateau for sunrise.
It was great to see snow again!
