First published in 1953, Villa Lobos' Twelve Etudes for Guitar were composed around 1928 in Paris. One can trace a myriad of influences throughout the piece but the result is a style completely unique and quite unseen before in the world of guitar. Villa Lobos' compositions were a revelation in guitar technique and it is hard to point to to a more important moment for the development of modern classical guitar music than the composition of Twelve Etudes for Guitar.

Recorded live at the Lutheran Church of Ireland in Dublin, May 2017.
