Traxxas Revo 3.3 - Clutch - Brake - Opti Drive Modifications - PT 5

Last night I performed a couple of modifications as well as minor improvements on the Traxxas Revo 3.3.

One of the first things I did was change out the stock 2 stage clutch set for an 2 stage aluminum set. This should provide better acceleration and overall performance of the truck when applying throttle. Wile I was in their, replacing the clutch. I also smoothed out the clutch bell ( AKA -the Pinion gear) with a very fine sand paper to remove the old rust and glaze that the stock clutch set up had produced on the clutch bell. With those two modifications, the performance of the TRX 3.3 Motor should be significantly increased!

The next modification that I performed was a very simple procedure to help improve the overall operation of the brake setup. By installing a spring from a typical click pen, in between the brake pads. It will help release any pressure or resistance from the pads sticking to the rotor causing resistance in the drivetrain, witch will end up slowing down the operation of the truck.

The last two things that I had performed to the truck besides some basic cleaning and maint. are as follows. I Installed a new receiver battery (stock size). Only because the old one from almost 3 years ago was just not holding a charge anymore and was producing corrosion on the connector. The other modification was, removing the Opti Drive Unit to help improve the Shift set up. By eliminating that unit from the truck it now dose not rely on a sensor to tell it when its ok to shift the truck. Instead the second you hit the switch to go from F-R or R-F the servo will automatically shift the gear for you with out any problems.

PLEASE NOTE**** By performing the Opti Drive modification to your Traxxas Revo 3.3 it will void any warranty that you may still have on the truck. Also by performing this mod it creates a higher chance of gears stripping out in the transmition unless you are 100% sure the truck is at a stop and the motor is idled down 100%. The reason for this being that the Opti Drive sensor normally will not allow a gear shift unless both of those things are happening.
