After savaging on his morning meal with the Australians, Raleigh is to attend the candidates trials where candidates are tested to see if their physical compatibility are equal. Those who defeats Raleigh, are granted while those who don't, will not be with Raleigh on this final mission. Unfortunately, all three candidates failed to pin Raleigh down. Raleigh is not happy due to the fact that he noticed Mako's obnoxious gesture everytime a match ends.

Mako criticizes Raleigh that she expected him better with moves that she felt is needed to be taken earlier. Raleigh thinks he still got it in him. But he dares to prove himself wrong as he asks Mako to join him and see if she could nail him down. Sure enough, Mako defeated Raleigh in the trials. Raleigh saw fit to request Mako to become his co-pilot. Stacker however, sees that they are indeed compatible for each other. But rather leaves a mystery.

Raleigh had minor fear that he might not be able to pilot Gypsy Danger with Mako. Later after the trials, Raleigh pursues Mako and encouraged her to not follow Stacker's orders and asking her to join him. Mako, being the adoptive daughter of Stacker, is reluctant even though she really wants to but it's not up to her.

Mako leaves Raleigh outside their hallway as she hide back into her room. To be continued...
