Inno Della Truppa Pontificia Di Pius IX - "Evviva Pio" (Anthem Of The Pontifical Troop Of Pius IX)

This is my take on the anthem for the Pontifical Troops of Pius IX. It is not the original composition. I created the lyrics for the chorus, but the lyrics for the verses were taken from "The Pope's Legion" by Charles A. Coulombe. A little bit about Pope Bl Pius IX. He was the second longest-reigning Pope (31.5 years). His papacy happened during a troubled time. In 1848, he had to flee from Rome due to a revolution that was brewing in the Papal State. In 1850, thanks to the pressure from the French, he managed to return triumphally to Rome and resume his duty. His troubles did not stop there. The Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia decided to unite the Italian Peninsula and declared war against the Papal State in 1860. The Pontifical Army was undermanned and many of their weapons were obsolete. Despite fighting bravely, they were routed in Castelfidardo. He two-thirds of his regions, leaving him with only Latium. In 1870, after the siege of Rome, he ordered the Pontifical Army to surrender despite their willingness to fight to the last man. Under his watch, The Papal State that had stood for more than 1,100 years fell. He was the last monarch of the Papal State.

In the doctrinal realm of the Church, Pius IX proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. He also called for the First Vatican Council to define the dogma of Papal Infallibility. He was also a fierce warrior against the false Liberalism that can be seen in his encyclical "Quanta Cura", which was accompanied by "Syllabus errorum", a table of eighty previously censured propositions bearing on pantheism, naturalism, rationalism, indifferentism, socialism, communism, freemasonry, and the various kinds of religious liberalism.
