I set my standards high for barefoot shoes. For me, shoes are only supposed to help protect your feet against sharp objects and crazy temperature, and to help you somewhat fit in with the society (I like to mix and match - sometimes barefoot, sometimes shod).
Everyone should be able to walk barefoot without pain. And if someone can only walk or run properly with shoes, they need to get an intervention immediately to fix their foot posture and improve function.
The shoes I choose must mimic barefoot walking as close as possible.
