2010-2014 with Whitegold Avalon
Avalon left for her new home in Arizona on Wednesday, arrived there safe and sound yesterday evening. I'm so, so proud of her. It was an amazing (nearly) 4 years being able to grow and learn with her. I was the first one to ever sit on her back, and she is the first horse I have ever really been able to say that about.
I met her when I was an awkward 14 year old, and she was a goofy 2 year old. We learned so much from each other and I loved every challenging minute of our relationship. It was hard letting her go. The times we shared will never, can never be replicated. But what reassures me is that she has had a good past and a good foundation upon which she can now build a wonderful future. Her new owner is a great match for her and I was so happy to see how calm Avalon was with her.
I'm so excited for Avalon's future as a trail/jumper/dressage/broodmare/possible endurance horse. It's honestly everything I ever pictured her doing, and although I can't be a part of it all, I'm so happy she finally has a home.
Making this was so good, because it brought back all the challenges and joys of working with her. Just being with her taught me patience and love and understanding and how to listen. She made me want to improve my riding so I could help her grow. And that she did. Before I knew it, she was a lovely mare moving to another state without me. I'm sad, but at the same time, I'm overjoyed because her future is limitless.
Here's to nearly 4 amazing years Avalon, thank you for the ride!!!
