How to Fix a Door that Doesn’t Close/Latch | 1995 Ford F150

This video shows you how to fix a door that doesn't close properly. One culprit for having a door closure problem, is a worn out or missing door strike pin bushing. This video shows you how to replace that pin.

The strike pin and bushings can be found together or separately in the “help” section at most auto parts stores.

The proceed is very simple. Mark the location of the pin so you know exactly how to position it when you put it back. Using a large torx bit, unscrew the strike pin. With the pin out slide the old washing off if it’s still there there’s no bushing at all slide your new bushing on. Then insert the strike pin and loosely tighten. If your markings where the latch used to be are missing then you’ll have to go through a realignment process. Otherwise you’re good to go.
Next close the door and try to line the pin up with the latch. Then you need to set the depth of the strike pin. start with the pin as far outward as possible. The door will close it just won’t be as tight a fit. So just incremental move the pin inward to get the correct fit of the door in the opening.
