#3 Gibraltar Azalea
Moving right along the color wheel, our #3 pick sports a range of warm orange tones. Gibraltar’s been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society and has been picked as an American Rhododendron Society Rhododendron of the Year in the past. That’s an impressive resume by itself but if you’re still not convinced, consider this. It’s a pollinator magnet, specifically butterflies and hummingbirds! #3 Gibraltar Azalea – growing zones 5-8, prestigious award winner, attracts pollinators.

This cultivar has long been a gardener favorite for its massive purple flower display in the spring and long-lived nature. In optimal conditions, it’ll live for up to 40 years! Use as a front-yard focal point or a lively foundation plant. #2 P.J.M. Rhododendron – Growing zones 4-8, low-maintenance, and long-living.

#1 Autumn Carnation® Encore® Azalea
It was close, but Autumn Carnation tops our list of best Rhododendrons and I mean, cmon, it’s pretty easy to see why. This Encore Azalea has repeating pink blooms and tolerates the heat and full sun like a champ. It attracts pollinators like hummingbirds and butterflies and keeps an upright growing habit getting 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. No room left in the garden? No problem! Try planting it in a container and moving the flower power onto the patio this summer! #1 Autumn Carnation Encore Azalea – Growing zones 6-9, stunning pink blooms, and great in containers.
