When a patient complains of a blind spot or decreased vision, they may have a visual field defect. Visual field defects can be caused by such problems as decreased blood flow to the retina, glaucoma, brain tumor or stroke. In this video, Adeniyi Fisayo, MD, an assistant professor of neurology and of ophthalmology, talks about Yale Medicine’s highly specialized approach to diagnosing and treating visual field defects. Once a patient has been diagnosed, he or she has access to cutting-edge treatment, thanks to ongoing collaboration between Yale Medicine’s research and clinical teams.
