In "The Four Musicians," four different characters, each with their own musical talents, come together to form a band. The characters are:

1. A donkey: The donkey is known for its powerful voice and becomes the lead singer of the group.
2. A dog: The dog has a keen sense of hearing and becomes the band's barker or vocalist.
3. A cat: The cat is nimble and known for its ability to play the violin.
4. A rooster: The rooster has a melodious crow and becomes the band's percussionist with his crowing.
In the story, the four musicians meet on their respective journeys, where they have faced rejection or are no longer valued. They decide to join forces and form a band to pursue their musical aspirations together.

On their way to Bremen, a city known for its acceptance of talented musicians, they come across a cozy house occupied by a group of robbers. Using their combined musical skills, the four musicians scare away the robbers by creating a tremendous noise. They eventually settle in the house and live happily ever after.
