Today on our 2016 Ram ProMaster 2500 we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the CURT Custom Fit Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, offering the two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. It's part number is C13207. Here's what our hitch is going to look like installed on our ProMaster. As you can see it gives us a nice solid look. We've got our side plates here. Squared tube comes, it's going to meet in the middle at our receiver tube opening.

Now this is a Class III hitch so that gives us the capabilities to use just about any hitch-mounted accessory. Cargo carriers, bike racks of course, ball mounts. This hitch is one of the only hitches available for the ProMaster that is actually set up for use with weight distribution so you can use spring bars or torsion bars with this hitch. Now as far as weight ratings are concerned on our hitch it's going to have a 750 pound tongue weight rating. That would be the maximum downward force we could put here at our receiver tube opening. It has a 6,000 gross trailer weight rating.

That's going to be the total weight of your trailer and anything that you we're to load up on it. Once you go into a weight distribution set up, so you're going to stay at 750 pounds with the tongue weight rating but your gross trailer weight rating, that goes up to 7,500 pounds. Of course you want to check the owner's manual on the ProMaster, see what it's rated for and go off of whichever of those numbers are the lowest. Now whatever you're going to using your hitch for you're going to use this five-eighths diameter pinhole to secure. You want to be sure to choose a Class III rated accessory and as you can see there's plenty of room on each side whether it's just the pin and clip, maybe a locking hitch pin or even anti-rattle device that you decide on, there's going to be plenty of room there to use that. The safety chain connection points are going to be right here around the bottom side.

Rounded steel inaudible 01:45. There's a good hole size there so whatever type of chain that you want to connect you'll be able to. Now a few measurements that'll be helpful in selecting your ball mount, bike rack, or hitch cargo carrier would be from the ground to the inside top edge of the receiver tube opening. We've got about 18" and a quarter inches. Then from the center of our hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of our bumper it's about two and a half. To begin our installation we need to get the square rubber plugs that are in the back of the frame rails removed.

Just a screwdriver, kind of get in there. Then we can return these to our customer or hang to them in case you remove your hitch. We'll do that on both sides of the vehicle. On the driver's side we're going to take our shorter 9/16" carriage bolt and our square hole spacer block here. We're going to reverse feed it right into that hole so just put our bolt up in the frame rail. Slide our spacer block in place and then our bolt will just come right back down through this. Just like that. That'll be our rear attachment. We'll do the same thing on the passenger side but you'll want to use the longer 9/16" bolt. Looks like to seed in here properly you might just want to use a flat blade screwdriver to kind of slide the spacer block on. Then with the help of an extra set of hands we're going to get our hitch lifted into position. There's a tab here, kind closer to the front of the vehicle, that's going to need to be positions over the driver side leaf spring and then you want to work that same tab up over the passenger side leaf spring. Place the driver's side up and over there. Bring it back. Then angle it so our passenger's side will go up and over it. Now we'll start bringing it back here towards the rear. Our pull wire is going to come down through the hitch there. We'll guide that into position and then push it towards the rear of the vehicle. We'll take our pull wire off and we want to thread on our flange nut. Now we can just let our hitch kind of rest there. We'll head over to the other side and we can repeat that same process with our spacer block as well. We want to bring our spacer right up onto that pull wire and bring that down through our hitch. Then we'll let our hitch rest there while we get the rest of our hardware in place. Now we're going to take our large five and a half inch bolts and we're going to pass them through the side plate that's on the inside of the frame rail, right through a hole in the frame. Be sure to have your flat washer on there. Pass right through. On the other side we'll add on our flange nut. Then we'll do the same thing over on the passenger's side as
