This is a story of transformation of ten companies which were part of MCCIA Amaze Cluster counselled by Joyful Wokplaces, Pune. This cluster was led by Dr. Sumit Roy and his associates. Lean roadmap comprised of 5 Phases were implemented over a period of 18 months. . Phase 1 focused on development of roadmap, while Phase 2 for an organization and shop floor setting. The 3rd phase was more on development of arrangements on shop floor and 4th phase was spent on development of systems for lean production planning, Inventory control etc. Phase 5 focused on employee’s involvement for Kaizen, Poka-Yoke & 8D based problem solving. This cluster was started in February 2017 & has completed its 5th Phase implementation in August 2018. The companies were all located around Pune city of Maharashtra. The cluster is scattered around a diameter of 35 kilo meters. Few companies were engaged into machining, while others dealt with Sheet Metal pressing & Fabrication, etc. The nature of products also varied across a wide range of products comprising of; automobile parts, Fuel Tanks, Skids for Generator, Pillar bushes for press dies, Precision machined components etc. Annual sales turnover varied from 1.0 crore to over 35 crores. Most of the entrepreneurs were mostly qualified engineers or professionals with technical/ commercial background.
