Gordon Jenkins was a producer and arranger who greatly influenced the music of the 40s and 50s. He was primarily known for his lush string arrangements and soft vocal accompaniments. He arranged for The Andrews Sisters, The Weavers, Louis Armstrong, Judy Garland, and Ella Fitzgerald, among many others. His best-known arrangements are those for Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, for whom he produced several successful albums. "When I Fall in Love" and "The Very Thought of You" by Nat King Cole are typical of his style. Marshall Royal was an American clarinetist and alto saxophonist best known for his 20 years with Count Basie. He previously had played in Lionel Hampton's band for two years and then played with Eddie Heywood. This selection is originally from the 1960 album "Gordon Jenkins Presents Marshall Royal". It is also included in the remastered CD of the same name released in 2006.
