Welcome to the Austrian German Tutorial. In this Tutorial I'd like to present a short introduction into the the dialect and accent of Tyrol. In general, Tyrol consist of North, South and East Tyrol. I don't want to focus on a specific dialect, I just want to highlight some important differences between Standard German and other Dialects. For example, after having watched this video you will understand the words bärig, Marenda, Bichl or mei schean. Additionally you will get to know the most important sound of the Tyrolian Dialect. so please stay tuned.

The learning goal of this video is to learn some important aspects about the dialect of Tyrol. First of all, let's take a look at the geographical location. Tyrol is a federal state of Austria, which is located in the West. In the north there is Germany, in the south we can find Italy. Self explanatory, south tyrol is in the south and East Tyrol in the east. Despite the differences between almost each valley in Tyrol, we just take a look at some specific differences compared with Standard German or other Austrian Dialects.

Now, let's take a look at some examples to get a better insight into the accent and dialect.
