Adams A1 Gen I vs Gen II Trumpet Showdown with Trent Austin at Austin Custom Brass!

The GenI A1 trumpet is the first trumpet Adams designed. In the Adams trumpet line, higher numbers indicate more recent designs, not better designs; many of the Adams trumpets are more specialized designs for certain sound concepts or playing situations. The A1 is a great all-around trumpet designed for versatility. The GenII A1 is pretty much a full redesign with enhanced playability and intonation. The GenI and GenII share the same mouthpiece receiver and a couple trim elements, but everything else has been changed!

The GenI A1 is a great trumpet, we have ONE left in stock that's a new instrument. This horn has a fairly traditional valve block, with a bronze lower cluster and nickel silver upper cluster. The third valve slide has a dump slide but no water key. The horn comes with two single braced tuning slides. The third valve bottom cap has a little additional mass.

The GenII has a sleeker modern profile, it's a little more compact looking because of the shape of the tuning slide and bell bow bends. Still a single braced tuning slide and no water key on the third valve slide, although the GenII doesn't have the third valve dump slide. The valve block is a little sleeker as well (Adams makes all of their valve blocks in-house). The bracing between the leadpipe and bell has been adjusted for the GenII as well, and the front brace is a little thicker. The GenI and GenII have very different feel and playability. The GenII has improvements in intonation and playability over the already great GenI. If you like the sound of the A1, grab it while you can! We only have one left and we're selling it at a great price.
