6 years ago today Brent Morgan r*ped me in the penthouse suite of a hotel in NYC. He lured me there under the pretense of friendship & a desire to help my career, knowing that I did NOT want a relationship with him. It was a deep, devastating betrayal. For almost six years I lived in agonizing silence, hoping & praying that the pain I felt would go away if I just ignored it… instead, the trauma caused a wound so deep, so infected that it spread into every aspect of my life & began to eat away at who I was. I lost myself & for years I felt like I was just a shell… breathing, but never really living.

However, in April everything changed when one of his audios took me by surprise & brought all of the fear, grief & anger I had suppressed to the surface. I knew it was time to come forward in hopes for justice, healing, & to protect any future possible victims. It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done & also one of the BEST.

So today, six years later, I choose to stand tall. Be empowered. Be confident. My heart is full. My spirit is high. I am no longer afraid. There’s light in my eyes again & when I look in the mirror, I see MYSELF again. This healing journey has been full of hills & valleys, but it’s bringing me back to life. I’m actually so happy to be alive.

So you know what? From now on, today isn’t the anniversary of what HE did or what HE stole from me. Today is a celebration of LIFE! It’s a celebration that for six years I chose to stay, to learn about trauma, to reach out to friends & family for support, to hold onto a shred of hope that one day I’d have the courage to speak out & hold that predator accountable… that I chose to FIGHT. So that’s what I’m celebrating today. I’m celebrating that after six years, he has absolutely no power over me… I’m free. I’m finally healing. What he did is not WHO I am. I’m not a victim, I’m a VOICE & this voice will NEVER be silenced again.🗣

So here’s to dancing, singing, dreaming & LIVING LIFE! This song perfectly expresses the choice I’m making today. Plus, it connects me with me Uruguayan roots! 🥰 May the next six years be filled with justice, hope, healing & love🎉
