How To Spend a Day With Your Dog in Carmel, California - the Most Pet-Friendly Town in the U.S.A.

We wanted to take our dogs, Kuma and Zooey, to Carmel with us because it's been rated the most pet-friendly town in the United States for years. Carmel, or Carmel-By-The-Sea, is located in California along the famous Pacific Coast Highway. It's a charming little town with a great dog beach and many pet-friendly locations like shops, restaurants and even wine tasting.

Check out how we spent our day in Carmel with our pups without ever having to leave them at the hotel.

We visited Carmel the weekend of June 19, 2020 and did our best to adhere to the CDC guidelines. We wore masks whenever and wherever we could (it's also mandated in California), washed our hands any chance we got, carried hand sanitizer with us and practiced social distancing. For the most part, everyone else was doing the same so we felt pretty safe.

The staff at the hotel also did a great job adhering to the CDC guidelines. Everyone was required to wear a mask, hand sanitizer was provided, cups were individually wrapped, pastries were individually wrapped and the staff only came into the room on an as-need basis.
