The Searle Company Limited (SERL) has emerged as a critical player in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry. According to a fresh analyst report dated September 8, 2025, SERL’s stock has been rated as a “BUY,” with a target price of PKR 140 by June 2026, indicating an upside of nearly 22%. This raises the question: what makes SERL such a strong investment candidate?

First, the government’s deregulation of drug prices is a game-changer. Nearly 80% of Searle’s portfolio falls under non-essential medicines, meaning the company can now set prices more flexibly. This already boosted gross margins to 49% in FY25 – the second-highest in the sector.

Second, debt reduction has significantly improved the financial outlook. By selling its subsidiary SPL for PKR 10.5 billion and repaying long-term loans, the company cut its debt-to-equity ratio from 32% to 24%. This reduced finance costs by 35% in just nine months.

Third, new product launches are extremely promising. Searle is entering the biosimilars market with Denosumab, the first locally marketed version in Pakistan, and has also launched a generic oral version of Semaglutide – a blockbuster diabetes and weight loss drug. Considering Pakistan has over 34.5 million diabetics, this move could transform the company’s revenue base.

Despite consolidated losses due to discontinued operations, the core pharma business is profitable and growing. Analysts expect EPS to rise from PKR 0.5 in FY25 to PKR 5.5 in FY26 – a massive leap. While risks remain, this may be the perfect turnaround story for investors.

سیل کمپنی لمیٹڈ پاکستان کی فارما انڈسٹری میں ایک نمایاں نام ہے۔ تازہ تجزیاتی رپورٹ کے مطابق جس کی تاریخ 8 ستمبر 2025 ہے، اس اسٹاک پر ’’خریدنے‘‘ کی رائے دی گئی ہے اور جون 2026 تک اس کا ہدف 140 روپے فی شیئر رکھا گیا ہے۔ یعنی موجودہ قیمت سے تقریباً 22 فیصد زیادہ۔ سوال یہ ہے کہ آخر کون سی وجوہات اس سرمایہ کاری کو دلچسپ بناتی ہیں؟

سب سے اہم نکتہ ہے حکومت کی جانب سے قیمتوں پر کنٹرول ختم ہونا، جسے ڈیریگولیشن کہا جاتا ہے۔ سیل کی تقریباً 80 فیصد ادویات نان ایسینشل کیٹیگری میں آتی ہیں، لہٰذا اب کمپنی قیمتیں مارکیٹ کے حساب سے بہتر طور پر طے کر سکتی ہے۔ اس کا اثر پہلے ہی سامنے آچکا ہے، گروس مارجن بڑھ کر 49 فیصد ہو گیا ہے جو سیکٹر میں دوسرا سب سے زیادہ ہے۔

دوسرا اہم پہلو قرض میں کمی ہے۔ کمپنی نے اپنی ذیلی کمپنی ایس پی ایل کو 10.5 ارب روپے میں فروخت کیا اور لمبے عرصے کے قرض اتارے۔ اس سے ڈیٹ ٹو ایکوئٹی ریشو 32 فیصد سے کم ہو کر 24 فیصد رہ گیا اور فنانس کاسٹ میں 35 فیصد کمی آئی۔

تیسری اہم وجہ نئی پروڈکٹس ہیں۔ سیل نے بایو سیمیلرز میں قدم رکھا ہے جیسے ڈینو سمیب، اور ساتھ ہی سیمیگلوٹائڈ کی گولی لانچ کی ہے جو ذیابطیس اور وزن کم کرنے میں مؤثر ہے۔ پاکستان میں چونکہ 3 کروڑ 45 لاکھ بالغ ذیابطیس کے مریض ہیں، یہ دوا ایک بڑی مارکیٹ پر قبضہ کر سکتی ہے۔

اگرچہ مجموعی بنیادوں پر کمپنی کو نقصان رہا لیکن اصل فارما بزنس منافع میں ہے اور بڑھ رہا ہے۔ تجزیہ کاروں کے مطابق FY26 میں ای پی ایس 0.5 سے بڑھ کر 5.5 روپے ہو سکتا ہے۔ یہ ایک بڑی تبدیلی کی علامت ہے۔
