Javanese Mataraman Dialect
Standard Javanese is the variety of the Javanese language that was developed at the Yogyakarta and Surakarta courts (the heirs to the Mataram Sultanate that once dominated the whole of Java and beyond), based on the Central Javanese dialect, and becomes the basis for the Javanese modern writings.

Central Javanese (Jawa Tengahan) is founded on the speech of Surakarta and to a lesser extent of Yogyakarta. It is considered the most "refined" of the regional variants, and serves as a model for the standard language. This variant is used throughout eastern part of Central Java, the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and the western and southern part of East Java provinces.

The key feature of Mataraman Javanese phonology is the vowel harmony, where the final 'a' is "tilted" to become an 'o' sound (specifically, [ɔ]), and the written 'o' can also have this same [ɔ] pronunciation. This contrasts with other dialects, such as the Banyumasan dialect, which often retains the [a] sound in the final syllable.

Javanese Banyumasan Dialect
Banyumasan (basa Banyumasan), also known as the autoglottonym Ngapak (basa Ngapak), is a dialect of Javanese spoken mainly in three areas of Java that is the Banyumasan, located in westernmost Central Java province and surrounding the Slamet mountain and Serayu River. This area includes Cilacap, Kebumen, Banjarnegara, Purbalingga, Banyumas, Pemalang, Tegal, and Brebes regencies, together with independent cities within that region. Banyumasan is considered as one of the most conservative Javanese dialects, retaining the phonology and some aspects of Old Javanese grammar in the modern language.

Banyumasan has many differences compared to standard Javanese, mainly in phonology, pronunciation, and vocabulary. These differences arise from cultural and character distinctions, as well as the continued use of Old Javanese vocabulary. Another distinction is that vowel pronunciation is simpler.

There are three main dialects of Banyumasan: North area (Tegalan), South area (Banyumasan), and Banten.
The language still retaining some of Old Javanese loanwords. Unlike standard Javanese, Banyumasan does not replace the vowel ‘a’ with ‘o’. It is also notable for its large number of Sanskrit loanwords, especially in literary Javanese, due to the long history of Hindu and Buddhist influences in Java.”
