স্মরণকালে ভয়াবহ নদী ভাঙন || River erosion in Bangladesh 2020

বর্ষার বৃষ্টি ও উজানের পানির তোড়ে সৃষ্ট দীর্ঘমেয়াদী বন্যায় দেশের সব কটি নদ-নদীর পানি বেড়ে যাওয়ায় তীব্র স্রোতের কারণে নদীভাঙনও শুরু হয়ে গেছে ব্যাপকভাবে। পদ্মার ভাঙ্গনে হুমকির মুখে শরীয়তপুর ও মাদারীপুরের চরাঞ্চল।

শরীয়তপুরের নড়িয়া উপজেলার কেদারপুর, মোক্তারের চর ইউনিয়ন ও নড়িয়া পৌরসভায় নদী ভাঙনের শিকার ৫ হাজার ৮১ পরিবারের বসবাস। পদ্মা নদীর ভাঙনে নিঃস্ব পরিবারগুলোর অনেক সদস্য পেশা পরিবর্তন করে দিনমজুরের কাজ, হকারি, মাটিকাটা শ্রমিক হিসেবে কিংবা ভ্যান-রিকশা চালিয়ে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করছিলেন। কিন্তু করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে সৃষ্ট পরিস্থিতি সবকিছু এলোমেলো করে দিয়েছে।
