कचूर का पौधा हल्दी की तरह ही होता है इसको वाइट टरमरिक भी बोलते हैं इसकी जड़ के नीचे अनेक कंद होते हैं इन्हीं को कचूर कहते हैं तथा इन्हीं का ही उपयोग आयुर्वेद में औषधि के रूप में ज्यादा किया जाता है, गर्म तासीर वाला यह कचूर स्वाद में चरपरा एवं कड़वा, पचने में हल्का तथा तीक्ष्ण, श्वास रोगों में लाभकारी, मूत्र रोगों में लाभदायक, हृदय के लिए हितकर, त्वचा रोगों में गुणकारी, रक्त को शुद्ध करने वाला और घाव की स्थिति में सुधार करने वाला होता है इसके अलावा इसका उपयोग बहुत ज्यादा हिचकी आना एवं बुखार में किया जाता है ।
