Residents mixed over new EPA air pollution standard

Residents in Baltimore's Curtis Bay neighborhood have mixed reactions about a new federal air pollution standard. The Environmental Protection Agency announced on Wednesday a new air pollution standard that focuses on the amount of soot in the air. Some Curtis Bay residents called it a good, small step, while others said it's not enough to protect people from air pollution. The agency is reducing the annual particulate matter standard from 12 micrograms per cubic meter of air to 9 micrograms. That means the EPA lowered the amount of soot allowed in the air in an effort to better protect against air pollution.
