The Vermont Fire and Police Training Academy East Cottage is a wing of the Old Sanitorium used at the turn of the century as hospital rooms to treat people with
Tuberculous.

In more recent times, East Cottage was used as office space for the Vermont Fire Academy before the Fire Academy Administration Building was built in 2009.

It has now been renovated to create a modern dorm space in the East Cottage. This renovation includes electrical, Insulation, HVAC, a new interior stairway, and shower rooms.

The East Cottage is now 14 dorm style rooms that can house 26 students and one advisor.
