Who was Thomas Bilney and William Tyndale story

Описание к видео Who was Thomas Bilney and William Tyndale story

Tyndale said, "I defy the Pope and all his laws, and if God permits me, I will make the ploughboy in England to know more of the Scripture than the Pope!" When the Muslim Turks sacked Constantinople in 1453, the manuscripts of the Received Text of the Greek New Testimony from the Byzantine, Antiochan, Syrian line - those Greek New Testament manuscripts were transported west. Erasmus was a Greek scholar who saw the potential of these preserved New Testament manuscripts and put them together to publish a Greek New Testament and a fresh Latin translation of it. The result of suddenly having a Bible to read in Western Europe caused 2 of many things. 1) Roman Catholic authorities were outlawing it, burning these Bibles and burning men at the stake for translating the Bible in common tongues. The Roman Catholic authorities sometimes killed people for just having a Bible and disagreeing with the Pope. 2) men like Thomas Bilney, William Tyndale and leading professors of Cambridge and Oxford University were coming to Christ by faith and being born again. They would go to bars to illegally read the Bible, putting their lives at risk to have Bible study. The whole of Western Civilization was changed and transformed by these men of the Reformation, men of simple faith in Christ as the only Savior and the Bible as the only authority and trust in the Holy Spirit to understand things, instead of trusting the old men on golden thrones and red robes of extreme riches in Roman Catholic hierarchy. Education reform resulted which give us the blessings we have today of education for the common man, not the locked away Bible for only the Pope and his high class priests to forbid and keep for themselves. Western Bible education and secular education is the result of the Protestant Reformation Bible translators, and that Western development spread to the rest of the Eastern world through history. Especially with American influence as an example. Of course there have been bad Americans and bad Europeans along the way, but there is one thing that has only good and no bad in it - and that is the Bible and the Person of Jesus Christ !! Tyndale said, "I defy the Pope and all his laws, and if God permits me, I will make the ploughboy in England to know more of the Scripture than the Pope!"
