Rose Fire: Latest on wildfire burning in Wickenburg

The Rose Fire burning in Wickenburg destroyed 7 homes, prompted overnight evacuations and closed the main highway between Phoenix and Las Vegas before an army of firefighters arrived to stem the flames, a fire official said Thursday.

On Thursday afternoon, US 60 partially reopened.

Tiffany Davila of the Department of Forestry and Fire Management said evacuation orders for residents were lifted before noon.

The fire burned 166 acres and is 20% contained. The fire sparked on June 12.

"In total, 15 structures were destroyed, seven of which were primary residences," Davila said.
