Alameda: Nadia Birkenstock celebrates 3 years of Talking Harps

The Talking Harps team has met some wonderful harpists since the project's inception, and it is always delightful for the team to connect with them again and again over the years.

Nadia Birkenstock (    / @nadiabirkenstock_harpsong   ) fist appeared in the channel in January 2022 when her "Harp Connections" interview was published. Since then, Nadia had shared her winter music in a "Music for The Harp" episode and participated in the project's 2nd birthday celebration with a beautiful performance of "The Rose" with Ralf Kleeman (    / @harfenspieler   ). Later that year, Victoria visited Nadia during her trip to Europe, which was a special experience.

To celebrate Talking Harps' its third birthday, the team invited Nadia Birkenstock and Amelia Romano for a special project where they each create an original composition and participate in a panel discussion on composing for the harp.

Nadia named her piece "Alameda", which is the Spanish word for tree-lined avenue. She said, "Alamedas are public places, often in parks or pedestrian zones in cities or villages where people of all generations meet, go for a walk, relax in the shade of the trees, read, watch the people passing by, play music, dance, flirt and share life in general. I enjoyed many walks on alamedas on trips to Spain."

Alameda looks to be the perfect place for catching up with an old friend or chatting up with someone you just met, much like the space that the Talking Harps hopes to create. We hope you enjoy "Alameda" as much as we do, and stay tune for the panel discussion which will be published on April 19th!
