This video shows the process of propagation, rearing and release of a rare freshwater mussel species. The Yellow Lance (Elliptio lanceolata) occurs in only a few streams between North Carolina and Maryland and was recently listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. North Carolina State University and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission partner to propagate the species for restoration of declining populations.
