Ride or die: coming of age for Mustang horsemen | SLICE | FULL DOCUMENTARY

Nima is a young Mustangi from the Jomsom region of Nepal. An old Mustang tradition says that a boy without a horse is not a man.

Although Nima doesn’t have a horse, this will soon be remedied, since his father has promised the boy that he can participate in the great race of Dzar.

Nima and his entire family cross the Mustang mountains every year in the pleasant August weather. Their destination is Dzar, where the great horsemen’s festival is held to pay tribute to the defenders of Tibet, the proud Khampas warriors.
