This 1958 promotional film made by Jam Handy for Chevrolet features Pat Boone, the crooner and one-time spokesman for the brand, as Boone's well-groomed, clean-cut, boyish image won him a long-term product endorsement contract from General Motors during the late 1950's, lasting through the 60's.

Boone sung the praises of his product as "See the USA in your Chevrolet...drive your Chevrolet through the USA, America's the greatest land of all!" Boone stated that he first was given a Corvette from the Chevrolet product line, but after he and wife started having children, at one child a year, GM supplied him with a station wagon as well.

Boone, who has endorsed an indeterminate amount of products and services over the course of his career, has said that more people identified him with Chevrolet than any other product.

This film begins with Boone saying: "I asked the Chevy folks, What's New? You should have seen their expression. "What's New" they said. "Everything! That's what." When I saw the car... come on I'll show you. Now, did you ever see anything as new and as fresh looking as that?

"Yes, the 1958 Chevrolet. All new with inspired sculpturamic styling. Breathtaking lowness of design. Dramatic big car width and length. The most fabulous automobile of the year. Luxury lounge interiors reach a new high of richness. And comfort and roominess - unbelievable.

"Take your choice. Seventeen smart models including the Corvette. In four new, great series. The new economy Delray series, the new Biscayne series - economy with luxury. The new Bel Air luxury series including the Impala - prestige car of the year. And finally a whole new station wagon series for 1958. "Chevrolet's fresh beauty secret begins deep down…"

Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you.
