Footage of Colonel Ignatius Acheampong, the Ghanaian Head of State hosting Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia in Accra.

The Emperor was on a brief, 3-hour stopover en route to Monrovia, Liberia where he was due to participate in a seven-nation OAU conciliation meeting aiming to solve a dispute between Senegal and Guinea.

Reuters Text:

"At the end of the Emperor's short visit, a communique was issued in which Ghana and Ethiopia reaffirmed their opposition to apartheid and pledged to continue assistance to what were described as oppressed peoples in Southern africa. The communique said both leaders opposed the racist policies of the South African government, the "illegal regime" in Rhodesia and Portuguese colonialism in Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau.

The two leaders also agreed to render every possible assistance to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and to strengthen links between their two countries."
