I've been doing business for 17 years and today i want to name some positive thingsa about Russain business. Next episode is about NEGATIVE things of doing business in Russia.

1. Russia is a big country - 150 m citizens
It means that there are a lot of consumers eager to buy your goods. All kinds of products are welcome. Industrial machines, Construction Materials, electronic goods, food and ideas. You have something to sell - there are people ready to buy it.
The flip side of this demand for goods is the weakness of our factories and technologies. Also, this tells us about the weak development of the business.

2. High level of IT in banking, Smartphones, cashless payments
As everywhere in the world, almost everyone uses - to search for products, to process payments, and to get some entertainment too, of course.
Instagram business plays a huge part in the Russian Economy. Online and card payments are the reality. If 20 years ago only about 2 percent of the population used cards, now we have over 60 percent consumers happy to pay for the goods using cards or online modes of payment.


3. Minerals and land resources
Russia has a lot of everything: seas, oceans, raw materials, wood, oil and gas, to name a few. Resources and their accessibility gives power to the manufactures.

4. Mobile Internet is cheap and accessible
Almost all new modern technologies have reached fathers regions of Russia. Consumers have a choise of at least 4 mobile companies that offer services all over the country. From Moscow to tiny towns in Siberia
i get mobile internet everywhere. I can play youtube video online presentation. We can watch Netflix.


5. Low level of salaries
Relatively low cost of living dictates lower levels of salaries comparing to european countries and USA. Which means that even startups can afford to hire professionals driven by results and reaedy to bring new ideas into the business.

6. Growing industries
Despite some issues (that we will discuss next time), Russia has some strong and constantly developing businesses, especially in the service industry. One that immediately springs to mind is the Food and Restaurant business.
Standalone restaurants, thematic coffee shops, small private enterprises and chain restaurants are everywhere in Russia.

7. Networking
Establishing contacts with potential partners and clients became much easier in the last few years. Russia hosts a number of international conventions and fairs that make networking effective.

8. Electronic document management
If you want business work fast and efficient you have to use electronic document management. For example to file your accounting statements with the tax office all you need is electronic signature. Finaly after decades of paper work bureaucracy companies in Russia moved to managing documentation online.

Even thought post socialistic mentality creates some challenges for entrepreneurs in Russia. The country huge potential. There are still many developing nisches for creating your unique and highly sought for product.
