Dorothy Lamour: 60 Second Bio

Dorothy Lamour, born Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton on 10th December 1914 in New Orleans, was an American actress and singer, best known for her roles in exotic adventure films of the 1930s and 40s. Lamour began her career as a big band singer before making her film debut in 1936.
Her trademark sarong, worn in films like "The Jungle Princess" and "The Hurricane", became iconic and synonymous with her glamorous image.
She is remembered most starring opposite Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in the "Road To" series of films, cementing her status as a Hollywood icon.
Lamour was also a talented singer, recording numerous songs and appearing on radio and television. She continued to act in films, television and on the stage throughout the 1950s and up to the 1980s.
Her legacy extends beyond her film roles; she was also a dedicated philanthropist, supporting various charitable causes throughout her life.
Dorothy Lamour passed away in 1996, leaving behind a lasting impact on Hollywood's golden age and in the hearts of moviegoers around the world.
